Buckets of Love for Ukraine is a campaign to collect donated Hygiene Kits specifically for women and babies fleeing the war in Ukraine. Currently these supplies are going to Poland.
The benefit of a Bucket of Love is threefold:
i/ Providing essential supplies;
ii/ A vehicle for help-line numbers and information on Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery;
iii/ Love.
This website will tell you how to compile your Bucket, where to take it and who it is for.
The vast majority of Ukrainian refugees are currently women and children. And they urgently need basic essential supplies.
Buckets are great because they are portable, waterproof and can be used to carry and wash in (from clothes and dishes to babies!).
Sorting donations can cause logistical headaches. Hygiene kits provide everything a person needs, pre-assembled in a form that they can carry so instead of searching through mountains of ‘stuff’, they can just grab a bucket and go!
Most people are unaware of the risk of being trafficked and put into slavery; and equally that Human Traffickers see conflict as a golden opportunity.. Traffickers are absolutely currently capitalising on the vulnerability of Ukrainian refugees and there is a very real need to spread awareness as well as practical help.
Each bucket will contain a simple leaflet in Ukrainian explaining:
Last but not least, we would like to encourage donors to include a short message of love and encouragement (Google Translated into Ukrainian!) for the recipient of each bucket.
This may sound trivial but, as this conflict has clearly shown, moral is a hugely important factor in winning any war. These women and children are not fighting on the front line; their battle is different and very real. Knowing that there are people out there who love and care for them and that they are welcome in the UK, should not be underestimated. And until the refugees can come to us, then we should take this love to them.
As a Christian, I believe we have the opportunity to manifest to people how God feels about them, through the love and care we show.
These are not just ‘numbers’ and ‘refugees’. They are humans, people and they are loved.
